Coordinated Investigation Programs and Campaigns

The principal mechanism for coordinating scientific activities for IHY is that of Coordinated Investigation Programs - CIPs. In keeping with the bottom-up approach of IHY as a whole this is an open mechanism by which researchers can propose activities that require, or would benefit from, coordinated use of facilities, whether space-based or ground-based instruments, observatories, models or other supporting research activities.

  • How CIPs Work - a short description.
  • CIP Coordination - details of the coordinators for the various disciplines and more information about their role.
  • Create a new CIP - a form for proposing a new CIP.
  • Search for CIPs - a search form for finding CIPs.
  • Browse all CIPs - explore all CIPs using a graphical browser.

  • Campaigns - campaigns that are being planned or run by a CIP or group of CIPs.
  • A status report on CIPs (Powerpoint, PDF) presented at the COSPAR 2008 Scientific Assembly.
